For those contemplating a winter passage involving the Crinan Canal, BW have announced that they are closing transit passage for the rest of the winter. This is to attempt to repair the leak in the bank on the Dunardry-Crinan reach, though access should still be available at each end for refuge. The date for opening they have given is 15th. March but if the repairs are not completed well before then they will have run out of money. No repairs to locks etc. again this year though so it will be as hard work as it was last year again next summer.
