Thanks Andy, if the third container is still lurking it could have a devastating effect on any vessel travelling @ speed

Indeed - but if you are careful and do spot one, I am not sure what salvage you could claim on a container with > 55,000 cartons of cigarettes - possibly enough for a major up grade !! XCWeather is forecasting WNW winds between 10 and 13 mph, so you should be OK and hopefully visibility will be fine as well. We'll catch up with you later in the summer..

Ha Ha, quit smoking back in November, now if the container had single malt!!!

Just triple checked the weather and looking pretty good, less than 1 mtr wave height around Portland with a 1.5 knt easterly tide so happy days woop.

Will be back end of June, beginning of July, you still interested in doing the Channel Islands? Were planning on early July but guess you'll need to go mid July due to school holidays?

"The contents belong initially to the original owner of the container, and then to the official Receiver of Wrecks, so anyone taking anything that washes ashore, even one packet of cigarettes, is effectively committing theft and will be prosecuted."

“If challenged by police at the scene, they have no option but to hand back what they have recovered."

Prosecuted for theft?

Wonder how much you could charge for salvage if you towed one ashore?

Sounds ideal - we went westwards 10 miles offshore, spent about 2 hours out of sight of land in glorious sunshine. Hope you have the same.

You are right as regards timing. Thomas is half way through his day skipper theory now, and will possibly do his practical on his (dads) own boat in May / June and then wants to pilot us over to the CI's, but depending on Joshuas exams, we are realistically looking at late July early August. Without Toms knowledge its head for Dartmouth and turn left isnt it :))

We got to Berry Head the sort of went south ish lol.

If tides and conditions are right its 3.5 hours at low 20's so no real drama. It will take us 5 ish hours to get to the Hamble but tbf that is 100nm

We've crossed Lyme Bay several times between Poole and Brixham in our Nimbus - at only ten knots - takes us a good six hours:eek: The fuel used on this passage is rarely less than 150 litres, but this can be quite a bit more if I don't get the tides right. I suggest you try to get past the "Bill" and St Aldams Head on an east going tide. Well worth getting it right with diesel being so costly.
