Cranchi, what do we think.

Ok, serious answer.

I had a good look round the 43HT at the Earls Court show last year (well, there werent that many bids looking round my boats after all) and on the whole I thought it was very good.

If anything its the details that let it down. lots of brushed aluminum look plastic that really looks very little like brushed aluminium abounds, plus a central light fitting in the saloon that looked like an upside down playstaion.

General layout was good, cabins a decent size and the only dissapointment was the galley felt very squisjed in the corner - though you cant have it all and that is where the cabin space came from.

HT was good, helm position was nice and lots of room topside. Seemed like a very good price last year but no doubt the euro has hurt that unless you can pick up a prmeier stock boat for buttons.

No worries about general Cranchi build qulaity either.
 
The details might let them down a bit, but the have a reputation for being very good driver's boats, with very solid hulls and good handling when the chop gets up.

If the 36 didn't have that daft trip-level cockpit, I could be tempted.

all comments correct here, it is in the end a boat with a price...
for a bit more if you want to stay Italian I would try an Abs or Atl 425 SC new HT versions just presented here for this later the mid cabin is lovely IMO
I personally dont like much the Med HT design, prefare the open vers but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder or so they say... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Up to just a few years ago both their products and their corporate image were so awful that I'm suprprised they didn't decide to invent a new brand instead of relaunching Sessa....
 
Was on the 36 a few weeks ago. I thought it was awful.

Bringing up Petem's comparison with Sealine, it had less space inside and out than a SC35, and was (at least here) significantly more expensive.

Can't think of a Cranchi I'd choose over its competition these days. The 34 a few years ago...
 
I think the comparision with Sealine is more about the price, both are built to a price Sealine is more concentrated on space I think while Cranchi more on performance IMO

the 34 Zaffiro should have been the benchmark for them (1100 sold!!), apparently it was not, while 36 Z is good looking too I think it does not improve on the 34 but lacks when compared with it

my Cranchi prefared models in the current line are 43 Med, 47 Med and 41 End
 
It's pig ugly. I saw one in a marina last year and I couldn't believe that somebody would purposely design a hardtop to look like that
Having said that, I've actually been to their factory in Nogaro in N Italy a few years ago and it was a very impressive facility even then. One thing that did strike me was the amount of time that the boats seemed to spend being tested on the water so I'm not surprised if they turn out to be good sea boats. The build quality seemed to be good in the important areas although I have to agree that the detail finish seemed to be a bit basic. But then the prices are very competitive
IMHO you wouldn't go wrong buying one but the price would have to be lower than the equivalent Princelineseeker

I think a better comparison would be with Baveria which are lovely looking boats but with some clear economies in the interior with lower prices to match.

Not boats I ve spent much time on,just boatshows, but is that really true?
 
Sealine used to discount heavily especially if you were trading in another Sealine. When this stopped (under new, possibly US influenced, management) the prices stayed high as did the demand and in consequence the expansion of the Kidderminster factory. (which they may be regretting now!)
 
build quality GRP construction compares well with all UK builders, and is at good level if not better (kevlar reinforeced)
engineering and electricity works are also good
stainless is good minus those cheap cleats they fit
joinery is good but Fairline and Sunseeker are better
I think same level as Princess and Sealine for joinery works

Sealine is a more spacious boat

if you compare it with Bavaria IMO you are way far ahead, but I stop here

the problem with Cranchi is customisation equals zero

Cranchi is perfection to cut costs and every surveyor that I speak about always comments very well, unlike some other builders mentioned in this thread
