Looking at one of these but being told IPS can be a problem on earlier boats. Any advice greatly appreciated. Looking for a 40 foot sports cruiser on shafts for sub 150k. Like targa 43 but ruled out as too much canvas.

Where do you plan to use? Cranchi not a popular uk boat-some say plastic Italian but I’m sure they have a loyal following somewhere ?
I'm on my 2nd Cranchi, have the current one 10 years.

Apart from the ply-teak on the bathing platform, I have had zero build quality issues. I coded the boat a few years back, as part of this I had to have a bulkhead sealed at the bow. The fibreglass guy complimented the tidy workmanship of the 'not so seen' parts of the boat. Infact, various Department of Transport surveyors (these guys are pro's) complimented the excellent engine bay access, strength / design of cabin steps etc.

Yes, not a common boat in Ireland, because they're Italian... that doesn't make them lesser quality, it's just that they sell higher quantities closer to home.

I wouldn't hesitate another Cranchi. Infact, we've pretty much decided that our next boat will be a Cranchi Atlantique 40. When my Zaffiro 34 sold (10 years ago), it fetched good money (IMHO).

Yes I think this illustrates point re the OP location -if in Spain probably more common than marmite so easy to sell but perhaps not so popular in uk so offloading becomes more of an issue.

I sold a 43 Med HT, British owned to a Maltese customer one year and a half ago.
The IPS passed the test, it makes handling in Marina a breeze. Yes the weak point in the 43 is the laminated teak, and some of the exterior bits, for the rest it is a good boat.
They do 34/35 knots with hard-top and IPS600s and usually drink about about 4 liters per nautical miles at about 25 knots cruise.

As for the IPS, the weak point where the clutches and the seal which where upgraded a couple of times. Clutches in any 2007/9 would have been changed by now so they should be okay.
