Not wishing to irritate those who heeded the met office forecast but really was a good sailing weekend. Blasted out of the Stour for the Cork Beacon then back with 20-26 kts wind reported at Landguard saw us surfing in past Harwich at 10.3 kts :) :) :) with a steady 8.5 kts -

not bad for a bilge keeler ;)

met office

Sadly we stayed at home waiting for the force 9 to blow through!!!

Stitched up by the met office yet again!!

Still..... got lots of DIY done!! (brownie points now banked from the Mrs)

Didn't irritate me - we were out there too. Saw the wind instrument read 33 knots in one gust. Even my wee wooden boat recorded a max speed of 7.8 knots (notional max hull speed 6 knots). Did have a lot of water coming over the top though.

Having got caught (again) coming back from Wells in 7s off south Shipwash for some 6 hours, broke the tiller pilot, badly bruised joy's ribs and generally causing myself grief, and having sat clocking 30 knot gusts in Levington this morning, I finally gave up and came home. Hopefully the forecast from Thursday will tempt me back for a couple of days at the weekend. Have booked Wild Otter's lift out for next week, I think I've given up on this year:(

Glad you had a good sail Pete
