Thanks for the advice all,
We got down to the boat at about 10:30 this morning and called up to lock out---WE WERE NO 49 in the queue.
2 hours later we eventually got going and of to Cowes where we moored up at Cowes Yacht Haven, The Harbour Master said we had to pay for a Night if we stayed after 4, but we did stay until 6:00 and got charged nothing!!! (Thanks Mr Harbour Master)
Then back to Chichester behind the 'Oriana' (its a big cruise ship---hlb!)
So all in all a good day's boating

I WANT A BURGEE!!!

I'm at Chi and we work to the freeflows or get up early at weekends, the alternative is to move the boat out Friday night and takee a mooring or anchorage in the harbour for the night. getting there mid morning sat/sun guarantees a long long wait!

I hope all is going well with the new boat!

"Hopefully that won't be too expensive to fix?"

Another person with a bust boat at chichester here.
What you have to do is bugger off late friday night or very early saturday morning (tide permitting) then you get no wait for lock out at all. I'm in my second year at chich and I only ever recall having to wait once and that was on lock in. (Perhaps more luck than judgement)
Before I was at Brighton where your boat gets a serious bashing by the weather where its so exposed!!!! Would rather be locked in and sheltered any time.
