Despite having had various boats, I've never actually made this before, but this year is looking a distinct possibility on the Rib.

What's the general consensus ?

Worthwhile?

Possibly have a few screaming 14 year old girls to show the sights :D

Fireworks are good but the journey back is pretty scary especially if you're in a small boat. In theory there is a blanket 15knot spped limit but you try telling that to the help od a 45 footer intent on impressing his guests as they blast back to wherever they came from.

Make sure you take a VERY bright torch to alert oncoming juggernauts or wait around for the bulk of the nutters to go back first.

we tend to wait for an hour at least after they have finished, let all the nutters go do their thing and its much quieter.

there is a speed restriction but still lots ignore it.

have always enjoyed it when we have been and hope to be there this year also if the weather is half decent!

be sensible and look out for other less sensible people and you stand a good chance of having a lovely evening!

Even worse are those with 52s !!
Its ok;but you get to see some of the worst boating of the year. Dont think this is one of those things that is actually better from the water, personally. Maybe if you get there mid afternoon and get a good anchor spot, and then wait 7 hours..!

I agree, especially being a littlun. Just as you think you've found a good spot some great slab of white stuff heaves to just between you and the show.

The trick is to get an invite onto a great slab of white stuff so that you get a decent view ;)

As a rib driver you can get into the rib park although you may be rafted several deep. Go ashore and watch from there with a beer and a bag of chips.
