Article on Facebook about the latest problems with the ferry and also due for it's MCA inspection.
The inspection is to be carried out ashore in Falmouth! Not Southampton or Portsmouth where there are facilities.
Some wit has said he hopes the chains are long enough to reach Falmouth. The IOW council Cabinet member for transport does not forsee a problem as they will join the ends of each chain together.
Sorry don't know how to LINK article!

It also broke down again last monday. Needless to say (but I will) it's a total disaster, I crossed to East Cowes on it Thursday and it had the tug there keeping it inline as best it could, we were almost pointing at the Redfunnel terminal 100 metres downstream for a while, the couple of times I've used it since it came back from the weeks of repair there's only been 2 or 3 cars on it. Hopefully it will sink on it's way to Falmouth

Do you think it might suffer a mysterious engine room fire while in Transit? I assume they will have planned it to coincide with more roadworks at st Mary’s junction which still seems to neeed improvements whenever I venture to that side of the island.

Probably will caused by chains overheating.

I'm sure the dreadful reliability problems could be fixed.

But the spring ebb problem requiring the use of the pusher barge? I dont see a viable fix.

Don't ask me what they did last week when the Red Jet was stopped....Red Funnel arrived with over 100 foot pax needing to get a across, just as we all arrived..barrier down and left with 3 cars on it...total lack of competence....useless f**kwits...
