I have a 1991 Corsair F-27 folding Trimaran on a trailer and the prospective insurance company here requires an a 'out-of-water survey' for insurance purposes.

Have been quoted +/-US$500.00 by the only man in town here.

What is the rough ballpark cost for a out-of-water survey for insurance purposes for a 27'0" boat in your area ?

I could, but the travelling expenses could be considerable. Sorry not very helpful, but could not resist it.

In late 2020 I paid £370 for a full out of water survey of a 29’ yacht on Hayling Island, Hampshire U.K.

I was also quoted €500 for a full out of water survey of a 30’ yacht near Cork, Ireland around the same date. I thought this was a bit expensive.

Sounds reasonable. Your boat is more complex than a mono!
Actually it’s not. No keel, no diesel, few skin fittings if any. Minor electrical system, minimal plumbing, just the beams. And TBH, a visual once over is all you can do with them, any crazing or cracking. But they’re very soundly built little boats, few in UK have had any issues at all.

Yes all true, and Ian’s folding design was amazing in its simplicity and rigidity. But still an extra significant complexity compared to a mono. Plus the need to assess the foam sandwich construction.

I used Richard Carey. Although based in Winchester the survey was on Neyland but he was there visiting his parents so no travel costs. All day job and report about a week later. Most surveys won't do anything more than start and run the engine (of possible) and comment on the overall appearance. Most surveyors charge travelling out of their area and will say when travel costs are added so best to get recommendations for surveyors local to the boat.

Thanks, Tranona.
Planning to view a boat lying in Eastbourne so if you're aware of anyone that covers that area please let me know.
