I have the chance of a coranado 25, sound but a bit tatty, I don't know much about them, what do I need to know? Any tips, info or links to websites gratefully recieved.
Unless theree is another brand of coronado that I don't know about, they were manufactured by the US boat builder Columbia Yachts. You could post your question at either "columbia-list@sailnet.com" or "columbiasailingyachts@yahoogroups"

Seem to remember they were imported by Russel Marine in the late 1960 early 70s in Essex. Many were fitted with outboards. Full width cabin side with virtually no sidedeck. Simple layout. Look out for decayed superstructure stiffening (plywood) which goes soggy and heavy. I know one is voyaging the oceans as we speak. Other than that just the usual problems of GRP of that age. Look out for damage to the moulding as regards the encapsulated ballast.

Search for Coronado Sailboats, then look for the Coronado Sailboat forum. Everything you will ever need to know can be found there, or via that site, including US price guides and a downloadable manual. My C25 was built by Playvisa in Spain but the history page is fascinating, they were built by several companies, mostly in the USA ( over 2400 of them) and still sail the world. A great, seaworthy boat. I sail in the Bristol Channel which is a test for any boat. Good Luck, Sabre
