copper hulls : any metalurgists out there?

no, this isn't about sticking or painting copper on to a hull - i wondered if there were any hulls out there made of cupronickel - yeah, solid all the way thru. That way no barnacles ever ever ever. Yeah, there would be weed but not much with shiny bum. it can't be pure copper cos that wd be a too weak.

I'm sure there is, because I remember reading an article about it in Yachting Monthly some years back (it was a Raggie). The boat wasn't painted in any way and was therefore a pallid verdigris colour, which gave it a vague air of decay, but it all seemed to work.

I'm afraid I can't give you a reference or anything but I'm sure one of the YM sages (perhaps JJ) could point you in the right direction.
