Strange problem; we have a slight leak from the pressure cap on the fresh water cooling on a Yanmar 3jH.
The odd thing is it does not do it while in service and seems to appear after the boat has been left idle for a few weeks.
I am thinking it may be caused when the domestic HW is heated via the shore power; putting some heat into the coolant loop possibly.
There is an expansion tank, from the pressure cap, so cannot see why it would leak.
It never leaks whilst running, and has only just started leaking this season.
A new pressure cap is on order, but would like to try and understand why it leaks when left.
Any ideas what is going on chaps?
