a fiver for the Bluecol would suggest de-ironized water too @ extra cost

Only that people need to be paid a commercial rate, do they have to travel? A/F will cover the 16 + 1 1/2 hrs labour (well total time used anyway), seems quite reasonable.

I can go one better than that. I was charged £300 for an oil change on a Beta 38. There are some sharp sharks out there!!!!!

My Nanni 4150 (37.5hp) has never seen a so called "engineer" o/b my boat. I must have saved the engine cost already

£116 for a coolant change on a small engine does seem a bit steep, but I can also see David2452's point - especially if the engineer has to travel to the boat.

£300 for an oil change, on the other hand, is absolutely ridiculous!!

The answer, of course, is to service your own engine. These are both simple jobs and well within the capabilities of most people.

Personally I think it's worth knowing your way around your engine in any case. If you ever need to change a drive belt, impeller or fuel filters when at sea, experience gained when safely tied up alongside will prove invaluable.

Might be something to do with the fact that I spent a couple of hours trying to get the drain plug out of mine at the weekend without success.
