KML is a file format which can be created by lots of little utilities, depends what data you can get out of MaxSea. I'm not familiar with MaxSea but an example (there are lots of others) here takes GPS derived data (which you maybe able to export from MaxSea) and creates a KML file. Or you can type in position etc and generate the file.
So it may not do it directly but you could do via a conversion program of some sort, here's another example which supports MaxSea and KML.
I've used gpsu and others to convert from my old Magellan Hand held of actual tracks sailed to then load into my Garmin Mapsource on laptop and to show on Google Earth (KML)
I guess the first question to answer is what version of Maxsea do you have? I've just had a quick look on their web site and 'Pack Navigator and Explorer say it will export to a GPS so maybe you can export as a GPX into GPSU then do your conversion to KML. GPSU does have an excellent forum with lots of 'wizards' who know their stuff.
Maxsea will only in version 10 as I think you have export waypoints / routes to certain GPS ... to export file formats - I think you'd have to go through 1 or 2 routines such as GPSBabel etc. to arrive at desired format. Trouble is that often the end result doesn't always work fully.
Of course question is ... what output are you trying to convert ? Map display ? Track ? Route ? Waypoints ?
GPSU ..... G7TOWIN are two good examples of uitilities that often fail to convert fully ...
I did manage to export from Maxsea 10 a spreadsheet full of waypoints (which is what I'm after, Refueler, along with track). I think it'd be just as quick to run a macro in OpenOffice with a bit of cutting and pasting in order to get the KML file. A basic KML with simple waypoints is a pretty straightforward file, whilst the track is automated in Google Earth.
I'd forgotten about G7TOWIN, Ron Henderson? is I think the guy who wrote it and very helpful via email. Except he was dealing with a numpty like me who couldn't understand what was happening to the Lat. Lon. then I realised they do things different on the other side of the pond. ie not degrees then minutes then hundreds.
I would bite the bullit demonboy and have a look at GPSU and G7TOWIN they can do an awful lot and are free (GPSU)does have a limit on the number of waypoints in a route/track and I think costs £30 if you want the full blown version.
Just the thing for these cold winter nights for us more unfortunate ones still here in England.
Looks like you might still be wearing tee-shirts! where you are.
Have Fun
Just checked what output format I got my waypoints in from Maxsea: .pts. I tried it in GPSVisualizer and it didn't work (didn't expect it to), so now I need to convert that .pts file to csv. Currently playing with this whilst doing 100 other computer-related tasks so I'll keep you posted on how I do.
I'm also looking to mashup multiple kml files. I might be teaching some of you to suck eggs here (what with all the sailing this year I'm catching up on a lot of interweb stuff I've missed out on!) but FYI the easiest way to do this is to use Google Maps. Within My Maps one can load any kml file, layering multiple KML files, and then 'View In Google Earth'. This creates a new single kml file. Simple!
