good day to all,
I have just bought an old yacht with an old volvo md2. Engine starts and appears to run ok, but notice that when moving the control lever from neutral to the astern position , movement is limited compared to the ahead position. Also have the feeling that there is gearbox slip when in astern position.
Question is - should I adjust at the control lever or at the gearbox linkage.
Could some kind person pls advise how to do this correctly.
Many thanks

disconnect the cable from the lever on the gearbox. find neutral on the gearbox by moving the lever by hand. put the control lever to the neutral position. reconnect the cable.

if the connection of the cable to the gearbox lever doesn't allow adjustment you may need to disconnect at the other end.
