No I wasn't. I think my status must have changed on all my posts retrospectively.
Yes, as I said in post 33, the forum page loads user information afresh each time a page is opened.

I think they only count "quality" posts. (Obviously most of yours don't qualify.) That would be right wouldn't it? ? ?
Did you see comment #2. Hypixel has the same category for members and it depends on how many trophy points(?) you get. But like you I am bewildered.........
When I started this thread, I had over 9000 posts to my name but no likes and was of lowly status. Since then thanks mainly to Coopec I've got several likes and am now 'well known' but still don't fully understand how the system works. I don't think these different statuses existed before the recent change of format and neither did the 'like' button although I think there was some kind of star ? system. Anyway, I'm enjoying my enhanced status. When it comes to quantity (as opposed to quality) PVB is miles ahead anyone else posting!!As of an hour ago his message count was 37,752 (and climbing)
In contrast Jumbleduck 19983, ghostlymoron 9,076, rotrax 8,849, Wansworth 13,528, Neeves 5,823
What was your long thread about? I had a long runner a few years ago about sailing myths. Now I freely admit that I post a few odd posts, but as the originator of the longest and most popular thread ever on PBO I ought to get some kudos.
idle curiosity:
how come zoidberg with 2934 messages is a well-known member and kingfisher 5 with 4183 is an active member then?
and ghostlymoron with 9068 is a measly active member?

Keep it up ghostlymoron as I always enjoy reading posts from people who have "been there, done that". How did people build boats before these forums? When I started this thread, I had over 9000 posts to my name but no likes and was of lowly status. When I joined the forum 15 years ago, I was a complete novice and the forum was a wonderful resource for boaty projects as I was definitely a 'receiver ' rather than a 'giver' of advice. Unfortunately I had already committed some cardinal sins in modernising our Leisure 17 like sealing fittings with silicone and joining wires with choc blocs!
Over the years I hope my advice has helped those more ignorant than me. Nowadays I find that many aspects of sailing are far too complicated for me like Arduinos, NMEA 0183 and bow thrusters. As I only have a little boat these days, I don't really need to know about them but respect those who do for their erudition.
What about moi - I may go back in an unlike your posts if you don't publicly acknowledge my contributionWhen I started this thread, I had over 9000 posts to my name but no likes and was of lowly status. Interesting question. I had randomly Liked a good few of your posts a couple of days ago to see if it would change your status. I just went back to one of them now #9 on the 90 degree elbow thread and I was unable to Unlike it and Like it again.I wonder if my status will revert if you do.?

To be "pre-computer", you'd have to have been born before 1941 - that is, over 80. The Zuse 3 (not widely known outside Germany) was built in 1941.
