Hmm, I know what you mean now, about the ends of the side tanks. How did that structure ever get damaged? (I'm paranoiacally concerned, mine may need similar attention.)

Even though there's a slightly unpleasant luminescent similarity between my green and the blues used on these 40 y/o boats, I get the feeling the blue is original 'factory' colour, whilst mine has certainly been applied in recent years, I suspect to disguise trouble beneath, which I hope I've mainly taken care of.

Not worried about exact colour matching if I need more than the litre I already have...only worried the chemical make-up might disagree, and that the paint might drop off.

Thanks for the Toplac hint. The high price is actually reassuring. The only issue will be application...If we get a mild, bone-dry 48 hours in spring, I wonder if I can leave her in the dinghy park drying, or whether nocturnal damp (and creeping wildlife) will mess things up. I'd paint her in the garage, but she doesn't fit! I'd have to fix the trailer first, too.

It seems the damage occured there due to a heel of a boot, maybe with someone right aft on the wire going in & out, that's my best guess; I wouldn't worry I think it must have taken real talent to do that !

I only stiffened it up as part of the repair then did the other side partly as precaution but mainly to look even - Vern being an artist...!

As part of the repair I glassed over a small area of the deck which had been cracked - presumably at the same time, looked like it - and fitted an inspection hatch as a handy stiffener in the vertical side.
