Yes they are and yes you are quite correct except I replace pulleys with belts as after a time the bearings go and I have never heard a reduction in that noise. That SC whine has always been there and never changed and sounds exactly the same on both engines as the video can confirm when you hear the damn things in stereo. I am pretty sure this is an issue with all first gen SC blown KAD engines and the evolution of the manifold silencing system seems to back this up. The first gen has no silencer and thin walled large constant internal diameter aluminium tubing, 2nd gen had varying ID pneumatic hose while the 3rd and final gen was small ID steel pipe with silencing box fitted. Why this change if not to silence the whine? I'm hoping this is the case and as the pneumatic hosing is relatively cheap I have taken a punt to see if it offers some noise mitigation and if so hopefully enough to be more tolerable.
