Good to hear it - doesn't really sound like you have much to complain about, not like poor old Searush. He has a broken leg so can't even use his boat, so instead he idles away the time trolling on here and (as usual) he has reeled a few in.

I have joined in the banter solentphil and I have enjoyed Searushs contributions, in my opinion you are entitled to claim compensation morally and legally, you sort of set yourself up in your opening statement which read to me that
you dont agree with everyone else claiming compo but you had every right to

I havent read anything in this thread which leads me to believe anyone seriously thinks you are claiming for something you are not entitled to.

I hope nothing I posted added to your discomfort and apologise sincerely if it did.

No not at all, I can see what your saying I dont want the compo, its just the fact Ive had to spend out and wondered if I can get anything back which due to the good advice I may be, Im going to do an invoice and will see if they pay it, just for expenses.

For those who are following this, the boat has gone back in and really pleased with it, its all better now following a wee spell in hospital. I also had a few hours between polishing and bought some black stripes a while ago and they had been sitting in a cupboard so I did one side and wow does it stand out, deep black gell coat, black top and there was a grey stripe down the middle, why they used grey I dont know but black looks by far better.

You should have got a "Chartered Loss Assessor" I had an occasion once when one of my drivers hit a Bus. The bus company tried to claim for loss of profit for the whole 24 hours the bus was off the road and unable to carry passengers.
You should have treated the collision as if it was your car. With your boat being unseaworthy you could have hired a similar boat for the duration of the repair. Or perhaps claimed a "courtesy boat".

You're right. Using a car, a house, a boat as some sort of penis extension is not that rare - but sad just the same.

I was lucky I have a towel with a photograph of the back corner of my boat so it fitted the slot nicely, actually it was lucky the towel fell off in the water so was smelly and wet so when I put it back on over the dent it dried out and looked filthy, made me look a right minger, but the dent was covered.

Thought would post again as have an update.

Due to advice on here I worked out as I had made several journeys to the Marina for different reasons in the end I worked out milage and put in the claim. Today I have received a cheque for the repairs and a further £75 towards my expenses so it is worth a claim for reasonable out of pocket expenses.
