compass problems

Hi all
heading sensor or (rate Gyro is this the same?) fluxgate compass and radar
can anyone tell me how these bits of kit interface together ie what bit of kit is connected to what and how do they work together.

In the Raymarine setup the Fluxgate compass plugs directly into the Gyro (Smart Heading Sensor in Raymarine speak) and the Gyro plugs into the Autopilot (via Seatalk) and the Radar (via NMEA). Later autopilots have the gyro incorporated.

The SHS simply provides a fast (10hz) stabilised heading ref for the radar over NMEA. The autopilot only needs slow (1Hz) heading data. All the connections are shown in the Raymarine manual which you can download from their site.
