Colvic are no more.
Sadly.
They made loads of different boats.
Lots were 'home finish'

Are You alluding to the 'Motor Sailor' type?

Going from memory here Colvic moulded hulls for a range of vessels (power / sail / commercial), didn't do the fit outs themselves. These were either sold for DIY or to boatyards for proffessional fit out. Some boatyards were better / more succesful than others (ie Northshore).

Memory again, I believe that their were 2 boatyards that completed the Trawler Yachts, Beta being one of them. A fair model run between them, and I don't recall having heard any stories that their was anything fundamentally wrong with them - pretty much what you see, a heavy small trawler yacht. Engines I think varied, although what the fuel consumption is like when going semi-displacement god only knows!

But I have only been on one the once, and that was tied up in a marina - my thoughts were nice, but smaller inside than I would have thought in the same way as a Grand Banks is.

Some were professionally completed. Possibly the most the most common ones being those fitted out by Jarmans at Conyer. Sadly like Colvic long since ceased to exist. (I don't in fact think that Colvic themselves ever built a complete / finished "Beta" just the bare hull/deck)

I had a Colvic Sunquest, a very solid boat. Strangely there is a new and unused completely bare hull on fleebay at the moment looks like it is near to where the factory was, or I may be mistaken?

THat looks an aweful lot like a Corvette to me, even has the split forward berth with the bog in the middle of the two outer bunks

Definitely not a Colvic - I think you're right about the Corvette.
The Colvic trawler looked displacement but was good for 25 knots or more with the right engines. Probably semi actually.

This is a Fairways Marine Trawler (although I recall the hulls were usually yellow / beige).

Pretty sure that both were on the same hull / design, but not sure if both moulded by Colvic - I beleive the difference in lengths 38/39 - 42' is down to any bathing platform / anchor overhangs rather than any hull difference...........but I've been wrong before, and the only thing certain is that I will be wrong again at some point

The hulls are not the same, take a look at the knuckles.
The Colvic was 42 ft without poofy bathing platforms!!!
