Ash,
In an old 1996 issue of Yachts & Equipment, the Seareef agent was Steadylaunch Ltd, 18 Hightown Road, Ringwood, Hants, BH24 1NW. Phone, 01425 480408, Fax, 01425 480996.

Whether they are still there or even still in busines, I would not like to say.

Perhaps someone in that area could advise.

regards,
Philip

Ash,
I also have a Colnebrook furling system and also require a part. I assume you now know that Steadylaunch are no longer in business. Did you manage to find anywhere in the UK that may be able to help ??

Did you ever find a contact for Colnebrook reefing? I can't get mine apart to service it. Seems there is a boss on which the drum assembley and line feed arm sits - this has seized solid. Short of cutting the stay and taking the thing to a riggers, I'm stuck. Any ideas how it all comes apart?

No, after many phone calls I didn't find anyone. I did find out that Colnebrook were one of the top suppliers 20+ years ago. My problem was at the other end, the collet at the top. What I do have are the installation instructions and diagrams that must have come with it when new. I can get a copy to you if you want by email, fax or post (email might be a bit slow with scanned pages). Let me know if this is any help.

Oh boy this is an old thread.
But then again, my furler is a pretty old furler too heh!

Any of the original guys still available?

I have to replace my rigging (insurance etc) and the rigging guys are trying to force a furlex on me as they say they couldn't replace the forestay without damaging the colnebrook.
So, I would like to have a go at this myself with the sta-lok stuff....
A manual showing the internals of the colnebrook would be a godsend.
As would any info about locating spares.
I'm most worried about the seareef extrusion.. if I break that I suppose I'm goosed...

Thanks

This is a really old thread , 13 years that must be a record :D but I maybe able to help . Not sure what size of Furler you have , but I had a similar problem in 2009. Rigging company won't look to replace Fore Stay, I actually did end up buying a new Furlex at considerable cost.

I have a complete system available which might be suitable for your needs ? PM me for details. Boat it came off was a 30 footer.

Thanks,
I think I'll have a go with replacing the forestay and using the existing Colnebrook and Seareef for now.
If I screw it up and end up in the market for a replacement I'll be in touch.

Best Regards,

An acquaintance of mine recently had his forestay replaced and some parts of his Colnebrook replaced by a local rigger in Sardinia. So it can be done! I suggest you try another rigger.

I recently acquired a very old Seareef 40 furler for my Leisure 17 to replace the old hanked on jib. The furler needed refurbishing including new lower and upper bushes. I could not find replacement parts so I fabricated new bushes from nylon rods I bought very cheaply on ebay. After a little patience and improvisation I now have a very smooth furler which is perfectly adequate for my needs. I found a copy of the original instructions on line which I have saved as a pdf. document if anybody needs it.

Good day, I have recently bought a Trintella 29 that came with a Colnebrook Furling system that was not working and was removed from the boat by the previous owner by cutting the fore stay. I have already dismantled the drum end and have started over hauling it. If you still have the pdf document you mentioned I would certainly appreciate receiving a copy of it. Many thanks

Hi PJ,

Are these the same documents that I sent to you in 2014? Just making sure we don't have different info for the OP.
