Just returned as an active member, but allways buy PBO, so was absolutly shocked to see in PBO May2003 page 29 that the "Reader Restoration" and he was cutting off a mass of "Sika" to be dumped in the skip. OK tape the seams BUT did you know (an old chippie) showed me how to do it economically.

As we all know Sika stickes like the proverbial "sh**t" to a blanket so this is how you do it without wasteing half of the tube.

Read, mark, learn and inwardly digest. Take one potatoe (firm pref. new) and cut it into a slight curve (concave) at the base( to seal the joint) and run smoothly accross the seam. This is not "sh**" it works, dont ask me how, but try it, it saves a lot of wasted Sika. Some of our more chemically enclined members must be able to break down the reasons. My friends on the Folkboat Forum thought that "Vegitable tools"
was very "green" untill they tried it and found it worked!!!

The Sika doesnt stick to either. Try it and see. There is something in the common Spud that prevents it sticking. but it is not in liquid form so does not flow into the joint. Its been used inthe trade for years.
