2 people missing, presumed dead; ferry careering around at full speed to the danger of other seafarers; and all the comments are sexual. You're a sad lot!
Fair comments from all directions but the real point is innocent lives have been lost, families have been destroyed because of alledged selfish and indulgent acts by entrusted "proffessionals".
Time to reserect lurkers forum.
I am in no way pruriant or a prude and enjoy the same as the MAJORITY of forum attendees the opportunity for a "bad taste joke" ( I grew up with Biafra and Spas jokes, often found them not quite right, but humerous) but I am cheesed of at reading the self important opinions of the self elected Cabal of vociferous and often venal opinion generators on these fora.
The wealth of knowledge here is second to none but as always it is hijacked by personal, emotive and political agendas. So the last 2 comments only reinforce my observations of the last few years.
I am aware that by virtue of the number of postings I am still very small fry but I have been attending these fora for a lot of years and watched a lot of very usefull contributors frightened off by force of numbers and this to the curious amongst us is fairly close to "power is controll"
Perhaps my slightly tongue in cheek suggestion of a "lurkers forum" back in Dec 06 was not so stupid.
My suggestions are
1 Sensible questions, absolutely no smart arse answers
2 Sensible questions, absolutely no smart arse answers
3 etc
Alternatively a forum for irreverant postings (that would be good )
I know I am going to have the sh_t kicked out of me but I dont care, this last post p-ssed me off.
If you have an opinion and have been silent so far have a response you are not alone, dont let the bullies win, your opinion is just as valid as the fast typers, this took me at least an hour to compose and type, so have a go, be heard, remember T. Blair is in power by indiferance.
Just to really annoy the snipping, sniping jobs worths that permeate these fora I am going to multiple post.
I fully agree. A forum especially for people who hardly ever post is an excellent idea. I had a party recently for people who hate parties, and that went very well indeed - absolutely nobody got upset or anything, although admittedly nobody turned up but that's beside the point, really.
Can there also be a forum for people who are genuinely rubbish at spelling? "Puriant" "usefull" and "indiferance" - hee hee. And another forum for people who don't much read newspapers and are a bit dim? Or is that the same one?
Next time, Cagey, perhaps try a quick but witty response? So you're going to say ...what? Oh alright, i'll help you out a bit ..."F" - that's in the the middle of the keyboard, then "U" - that's up a bit to the right - middle of the upper row, good... and now... no no it's C next isn't it!? Not K - that comes at the *end* of the word, doesn't it? Not easy is it?... jeez.
Quote - "Fair comments from all directions but the real point is innocent lives have been lost, families have been destroyed because of alledged selfish and indulgent acts by entrusted "proffessionals"." - unquote,
The incident happened nearly twelve months ago and the article makes it clear that nobody was presumed dead - two are unaccounted for.
The article also makes it clear that the two entrusted "proffessionals" were a male and a female - imagine the fun these dispicable fora would have had if the amourous activities of two gay men had caused the sinking of the "Queen Of The North" /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Well regardless of the sad disregard the so called "officers of the watch" had for the lives of their passengers and others perhaps those who posted recently regarding " All ships keep a listening watch on channel 16" might take note......
The essence of a public forum is just that, public and forum. Start applying too many criteria and it ceases to be either.
As for what you should do about that which offends you, it's an old formula, but it works. Often expressed as like it or lump it. Or, in TV terms, the channel change button.
