Whilst rebuilding my dashboard I have made up a new mounting block for my Morse Control levers from teak, I intend to strip all the other teak in the the cockpit and coat it up with Coelan over the winter.

My question is this - I intend using the boat for a few weeks before then, so to prevent my beautifully sanded new teak getting soiled with greasy fingerprints and watermarked should I perhaps prime the new teak up with a couple of coats of Danish Oil or will that prevent the Coelan fom bonding properly later?

I would not do that. The Coelan book of words is rather emphatic that NOTHING should come between the Coelan primer and the wood!

Ta for that, I rather thought it may be the case. Any tips on where to buy the stuff for the best price or is it exp. everywhere?

Also would you advise using the coloured primer on new / old teak?

I use the yellow primer for teak. Seems to work very well.

I've sent you a private message with a reputed cheap source!
