Hi all,
Does anyone know where one can get medium weight tent material at a reasonable price suitable for a cockpit tent.
Many Thanks Jack.

If you are considering making your own fully enclosed cockpit tent, rather than simply a sheet over the boom, before buying I recommend that you enquire about the long-term stability of the material in the weather. I have a hood plus cockpit tent, another hood and a cockpit winter cover, all of which have shrunk to such an extent that they will barely fit the boat. It may be that all materials do this but some may be better than others.

plink clink clink.... penny dropping as I suddenly understand why I feel like totally spent by the time Ive wrestled my hood onto its frame and torn every finger nail out hooking it to the lift-the-dot fasteners all of which seem to be at least 50mm too far away.

Ours became unusable shrunken after ten years. All four sailmakers who quoted for the replacement expressed astonishment that this had happened, and assured me that this could never happen to the new one. Time will tell.
