The cockpit seating on my boat appeared to be solid teak..however due to water lying in one corner it was looking a bit worse for wear. I examined it more closely and discovered that it is not solid teak, rather teak ply, about 6 mm thick, routed to give the impression of solid teak, with the joints caulked black . It would seem to be a simple job to lift the old ply and replace with new, routing the joints and caulking black as before. Has anybod done this? Is Teak faced marine ply available,if so where?

I replaced mine over last winter. Went to the local (non boat) woodyard and bought a massive mohogany plank. This has replaced both sides of the cockpit. (6 foot length each side) cut into about half for the quarter locker lids. The plank cost me a little over fifty quid. The whole thing now looks great.
PM me if you want more
