Cockpit dodgers

Although with the LM's folding cockpit canopy, you possibly have the ultimate dodgers!

Our dodgers are great - keep the wind off and we can still see over. Which I think emphasises the point that they work best if you have a modern (AWB?) higher cockpit yacht. On older boats with deep cockpits they restrict the visibility and you are more out of the wind anyway.

I can see where this is gonna go...

We also have a full cockpit tent. Makes the cockpit into a room.

I got rid of our dodgers because they restrict the view when sailing (I like to steer sitting on the lee side of the cockpit and having to keep standing up to peer over the windward dodger is a nuisance).

In port we put up our excellent cockpit enclosure or, if we need shade, the boom tent.

I don't much like them (for my own use), and have removed them from several boats (all small or small-ish) I've owned.
I don't like them, for many of the reasons mentioned in post #20. In addition, I am on a swinging mooring and dodgers would get in the way of me transferring stuff between the tender and the cockpit.
