Cobra Handheld VHF charger

I'm not certain which model my Cobra handheld is, but it certainly looks exactly like the pictures Google has for the HH415. Mine has no smarts in the charging base at all, it's just a way of holding two contacts in position on the metal terminals on the back of the radio. So in the best PBO tradition, you could knock up some other arrangement to supply power to those pads. Either just a crude jig to hold two wires in the correct position (actually, you could probably tape them on) or a beautifully varnished wooden cradle, as your skills and dedication dictate. Then any generic 12v power supply can be used, or you could wire it directly to the fuse panel on your boat.

I guess you would need to know which pad is positive and which negative. If it's not marked on the radio or otherwise obvious, I could put a multimeter on mine if you like.

Thank you,
I had thought of improvising a cradle/bodge!
It would be very helpfull to know how the metal strips work
so yes please, I would be very gratefull if you could
test the pads and let me know which is which.
TRhanks,

Roy

I'll try to have a look in the next few days, but I'm away over the weekend helping Kindred Spirit's new owner rig and launch her. Feel free to remind me by PM if I haven't got back to you by Tuesday.
