We have had the boat in the water all winter and the engines have been run up roughly every 2 weeks, however for various reasons we havent actually taken her over 1500 revs since early December.

I have seen some threads regarding seized turbos and am conscious that running the engines is one thing, exercising the Turbos another.

Whilst the engines were only commissioned in July last year (D4 260s), I wonder if it would be a good idea just to take her out and treat her as usual or whether the turbos need some coaxing.

We have always been meticulous in letting the engines "warm down" at idle after a day out, so I am hoping it will be a case of turn up and go .... weather permitting.

Thanks - my job entails assessing risk, so caution comes naturally !

We would have been setting off tomorrow PM, but "someone" decided that a visit to the in-laws on Good Friday would be in order, so realistically we are looking at Saturday for our forst proper trip of the year, but that seems to be the last day of the good weather :-(

Even at idle the turbos will spin and oil be supplied so everything should be just fine.

If up for an oil change I'd do that as soon as the engines gets luke warm, but apart from that just allow engines to warm up and then let them work.

I am curious why people leave their boats in the water over the winter but don't take them out for a run regularly, has to be just as easy as running the engines but better for them and the boat.

A regular run (at least once a month) was the intentionbefore Christmas, but a combination of storms, wrong wind direction and an instruction to finish a lot of decorating before spending time on the boat contrived against us.... well me actually.

Turbos are a lot more robust than they are often given credit for (provided they are getting a good oil supply).. As mentioned above they will be turning, quite fast in fact, even at idle.. So really I wouldn't worry about the turbos.. :)
