Although I much prefer Kip to Largs, I would go back to Largs and tell them what Kip have quoted. They may be prepared to match it or do some kind of a deal.

Might be a good idea, but they probably wouldn't match the price for the following years berth.

Kirsty and I spoke last night about Kip, and we think it might be a good idea to move there from the Loch, and save ourselves a bit of money. The money saved would buy some extra safety equipment i need to get before moving.
Have they added anymore access point the pontoons, or is it just the main 2?
Also do they still have WiFi there?

Can anyone tell me how many NM it is from Kip to the Holy Loch Marina, Please.

Cheers

Alistair.

There are 4 access points at the moment, one from the large car park by the Chartroom, one from by the Opal sales office, and 2(possibly 3 - not sure) down past the marina office parallel to the A78. I believe that there are plans to make a new access point over by where the unpleasant new housing is.

Thats what i thought, the bigger area to the left in the pic below, is as you can see, quite a size, and with just 2 access points, beside chartroon and the Opal offices, its quite a walk if your boats round near the breakwater. Actually i have seen people cycle it once.

A nice walk mind you, but not in the teeming rain.

so far as petrol is concerned, if you berth at kip, holy loch would be more or less on your way to the sea lochs to the north and largs would be handier if you were heading south. just keep a full can aboard for emergencies ( but i expect you do that anyway )

they are expanding into the corner to the left of the picture you have posted

bear in mind that you do get a discount if on the outer pontoons at Kip which is worth having

they must be expanding into the corner as they are now building more houses on the land.
nothing different about the pontoons - its just to do with the distance from the gate.

into the north corner - the new pillars went in over the winter but no pontoons in as yet

no difference in the further pontoons other than a bit further to walk - discount woth having for us - they still have electricity/water

Hi again Al

If you do go to largs then remember to drink £2500 worth of booze at the "new bertholders" do - that way you break even.

IMHO Largs is a far superior marina to Kip & nearer the action (Kyles, millport, rothesay etc)

p.s dont bother trying to haggle - berths are like gold dust (unless you buy a boat from Stan the man)

actually just thinking - if I had a 24 footer on a trailer I would dry berth at largs, cost is about £900 for a years storage & its a lot kinder to your boat & engine/drive, you just give them a ring & the boat will be on pontoon when you get there (fantastic)

Yes, good idea, but we don't have a trailer!!

Also spoke to the Marina office at Largs a couple of weeks ago, and was told a berth for my size of boat is not a problem wether i want one now or for the start of next season.
Glad i wasn't berthed at Largs this weekend, as it was mobbed!

Cheers

Al.
