Clyde, it\'s horrible.

I saw a tyre floating around in the water near Arran.
It rained all day a week ago last Tuesday.
There's a nasty big nuke power station in the vicinity.
You have to tack every 10 minutes sailing up Loch Fyne.
I got hit by a nasty gust while on a mooring in Loch Ranza. It made my ensign flap.
The locals speak funny.
There are lots of seagulls in Troon.
It was a bit chilly last Friday.
I saw a jetski in Tarbet.

It's just not nice, definitely don't go there. Stay in the Solent.

Overstated!

Kip power station is actually oil fired and decommssioned.

Its all not that bad!

PM me with your e-mail address and I'll forward a photo of you in L Fyne - while not tacking!

And... we did warn you about L Ranza.

Regards

Donald

But Hunterston is

a nuclear power station in operation.

Please frighten everyone away some more then all us Scots can have the water to ourselves, and to those nice Scandinavians who have had such rotten weather this year.

It gets worse...

Crew Ed got chewed by a midge one evening and had an itchy ankle the next day.

It's too deep to anchor.

You have to go all the way back down a long thin loch having spent all day getting up it.

There's a nasty rocky bit at the top of Bute just waiting to catching out a sleeping helm.

> Kip power station....

I meant Hunterston. Nasty nukey thing, ugh, don't want to go anywhere near that.

> Its all not that bad!

Look you, don't give the game away. I'm trying to make it sound horrible to keep out marauding crowds of visitors from the south (like me!). That's what you told me to do in Tarbet.

...two nuclear power stations, A and B, although one is decommissioned and will be as safe as houses in a couple of thousand years.

You also get wash from the Arran ferry, I notice that no one has added that to our list of woes.

You Guys up there don't get it do you? Those of us who sail in the Solent do so because we love it there, and have absolutely NO desire to come up there whatsoever. So, you can relax in the fact that you are NOT about to be beseiged by thousands of Southerners even though we've got our fair share from North of the Border down here. (Stand by for a Jimi blast!!)

Doom and gloom

Two nukey power stations? Double trouble! Stay twice as far away.

I forgot the manic CalMac ferrires, the well know bane of the lochs and isles. I got harangued by the Tarbet ferry, and chased all over the shop by an evil looking tug heading up the Clyde.

Look at this evil squall and dismal weather coming down from Goat Fell into Loch Ranza. Just ghastly.

No, I don't - it does nothing for us Southerners at all - OK for a visit armed with plenty of midgy spray, and a heavy set of oilies, but not for anything permanant - I repeat, you have NOTHING to worry about!!

Re: It gets worse...

You dont want to cut the corner at the Butt of Bute...

Wreck Bay (just round the corner) is a favourite place for an overnight stop - with the additional bonus of watching yachts do an emergency swerve coming round the corner... there's always one!

Anchoring - I dont have 50m of 5/16" chain and 20 m 1"nylon for nothing. Can get mighty deep...

Mike

Thats taken from Caladh harbour looking towards the Butt of Bute. Nice there isn't it. Obviously taken on a nice hot sunny day as is apparent from your bimini. Its not quite so nice when its raining I'm sure you'd agree!!!

Re: Clyde, it\'s horrible.

So cut off. Places like Arisaig, Port Appin, Loch Creran are miles from a wine merchant and don't have a bowling alley like Brighton. Not even a Macdonalds- and in Scotland as well. I was expecting a bar/brasserie full of London women with tanned legs in spaghetti strap dresses but I found Zavarone's. I just feel let down by the whole experience. Achors .....ughhh.
yours daintily, spuddy
