Hi there

As previously posted we are away for a week's sailing on Saturday. But we do not get the boat until 4.00pm on Saturday @ Kip.

Where can we go for the first night bearing in mind that we probably won't be able to leave until 5 at the earliest. There are 2 kids on board 7 & 9 so do not want to go too far but need to be guaranteed a place somewhere.

Based on previous experience in Turkey last year nothing too hard.

Any suggestions welcomed.

PS Do not fancy leaving Kip Marina to go to Largs Marina

you could try the nsc pontoon on cumbrae just opposite largs. about an hour from kip. the bar should be operational but no food - and it`s free.

Rothesay is 1 hour west of Kip, Wreck Bay (in The Kyles of Bute) is 2 hours and Caladh (below) is 2 hours and 15 mins.

Enjoy!

"The sun melting the tarmac here in Troon this morning!!"

That must be some dodgy tar they have in Troon. Did it come cheap from some Irishmen with thick accents?

Loads of options close to Kip.

Lot of space at Rothesay - on pontoons or moorings. But avoid harbour in northerlies (which it could be) as recent works seem to funnel in the waves. And not to all tastes.

Going up East Kyle, Caladh is lovely but very small. The hotel moorings at Colintraive, just past the ferry, may be worth a try - great food. Ditto a bit further round at Kames also with hotel moorings.
Millport at South end of Cumbrae is also good if a bit of North in the wind.
Finally, with kids on board don't rule out Largs. Lovely marina in great location with food available, so could be easy option for first night.

Hi.
Thanks for the tips. Rothesay sounds a good idea will depend when we get Betty P and how long it takes to empty the car.
