Anyone had any time here, website doesn't show a great deal.thinking of moving here next summer from Cala D'or.
Yup we were there from 2005 to 2009. We visited Club de Mar from Denia in Oct 2005 just for half term week and didnt leave until 4 yrs later. For me it is a great place to base a boat. It is only 15mins from Palma airport by car or taxi and most of the quays are wide enough to get a car close to your berth so no hauling luggage for miles. It is quite a large marina so this is just as well. Facilities on site when we left in 2009 included a small supermarket, chandlery, bar, night club, clubhouse, restaurant and swimming pool. No small kids allowed in the pool. Rumour has it that the King of Spain used to moor his boat in Club de Mar but flounced off in a huff when his kids were refused entry to the pool. No love lost between the Catalans and the Madridistas. The attractive city of Palma of course is right on your doorstep with the old town and its restaurants/bars about 20mins walk. Downsides are occasional swell from harbour traffic although not as bad as the marinas further east and bad sterngear fouling. I used to have my sterngear cleaned by a diver 3/4 times a year. The other potential downside, although it didnt bother us, was the marina's proximity to the busy Paseo Maritimo road running along the shore
In terms of cruising there 2 good anchorages within 10mins run at Illetes, 30mins to Portals Vells or you can go further afield west or east and have a choice of anchorages in less than an hour at planing speed. Palma bay is well sheltered from winds from all directions except S and the N mistral wind which often affects Menorca and N Majorca is usually much weaker on the S coast of Majorca
