Hi all,

Since the end of the season, my windows have quickly gone from nice and clear to white and brittle. This never happened last season and not sure why such a change this year.

Could it be something down to the product used to clear the windows ie pledge or something else

Most likely it's due to UV / sunlight exposure killing the clear film.

There's not much you can do to reverse this, other than having new clear sections fitted, which might be worth doing once to existing canvas, if the zips and stitching are otherwise in good condition.

Oh, i had looked at doing this a while ago to make look clean and new but i couldnt find anyone to make new with the existing canvas but only to make a whole new cover but at 3k.

Is there a place that will sell the clear plastic ?

If they start doing that they probably won't last next season. My hood maker says hood lasts 10 years, new windows after 5. Learned this the hard and had mine replaced last year. Pay a fixed price of 35 € per window. They overstitch the new window onto the old one then use a special curved knife to cut out the old. This way the hood does not loose shape. Probably a tailer could do this with some help. They do use some special window stiky tape that goes in between for water proofing. If you wait too long you end up with good windows and a bad hood :)
