Hi all,

You may recall that not too long ago I could not get wind speed but was getting wind direction. Several ideas/suggestions were given to me and I followed them.

Still no speed.

So up and down the mast x 3 times. This is very difficult for me being ancient and arthritic.

Anyway I have at last ; replaced the cups and the wind direction indicator...Result still no speed ARRGH!!!!!

Can anyone truly tell me what is wrong?

I cannot truly tell you what is wrong but I can make 2 suggestions.

I have just bought one of these units but have not yet fitted it. I have connected it up to a spare battery at home to check it out though. On mine, perhaps because it is new, the plug on the cable to the masthead unit is an extremely tight fit and I had difficulty in getting it right in. Is yours fully home?

The terminal block at the dial unit is very small and I had to use a watchmakers screwdriver to tighten the screws. Could there be a poor connection here?

If all else fails could you borrow another dial unit (or connect your hand held masthead unit to one on another boat) to make sure that it functions correctly.

As you are obviously fitter than me, can you please hasten your visit to Agios Nikolaos and climb my mast for me? I am having difficulty in finding anyone here to fit mine.

Hi John,

Not long before we arrive. As for fitter than you...YOU are joking of course.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have just had a reply from NASA and I have to check the WHITE wire as that is the one that does the wind speed, It can wait until tomorrow.

I will naturally be checking all connections.

Cheers.
