The LED screen on my Clipper Duet has delaminated to the point that you can only read it from directly in front of it. Has anyone had a go at taking a unit apart and fixing a LED screen like this? (theory is you gently warm up the back of the screen with a hairdryer to soften the glues and use a soft squeegee to force the layers back together). I've heard on this forum that Nasa are good when it comes to fixing kit (it's well out of warranty), shall I just send it off to them to fix it? How much folding money do you think nasa will charge? I do rather fancy taking it apart and fixing it myself though :)

NASA are very obliging and will fix it if they can. The wind instrument I sent them recently was beyond their capabilities but I would think they could do yours. There's nothing to be lost by trying a DIY though as long as you don't trash it in the process. As for costs, you'd be best to ring them.

As already said, NASA will fix it for you if you send it to them. Alternatively, and a little cheaper, they will send you a new LCD display for you to fit yourself.

I did the latter. I can't remember exactly how much it was, but around £20 I seem to recall. Fitting the new LCD dislay was very easy after removing the display head from the boat. The only thing to watch out for is to make sure you put it in the correct way up.

NASA very pleasant, helpful people to deal with. Give them a ring.

I couldn't resist.
Took it apart (thanks Nasa, really easy to disassemble), tried the warming back of screen and squeegeeing together and you know what, it actually worked.
it's nearly new again (slight ghosting in the corners) but back to totally readable from any angle.
Now to see how long it lasts......
