What do people use to clean the covering on their wheel. Looks like it is a suede or leather type covering that has gone a bit greenish. Any handy hints or tips out there???? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

This was asked about 10 days or so ago. It would be worth reading that thread.
The best wheel leather on Lewmar or similar wheels is reversed elk hide. ( Skinned Rudolph) If this is what it is wash it with water and mild detergent and rinse well, if mildew stained you might try something like Milton. The leather softens considerably when wet so a power washer can blast it away.

Give it a good wash and scrub and it should come up OK. My wheel has a 5mm rope wound round it with a turks head at the centre position, which was green when I got and I confess to pressure washing it(not usually recommended) and discovered the rope was alternating white & blue!

I asked the same question last week - the most helpful answer was for Milton. I have the wheel at home and was planning to try the Milton medecine tomorrow!
So if you can wait, I will PM you on Friday with results.

Scrub it with warm sudsy water with a little household bleach added, until it's clean. Let it dry. Then, with a paint brush, apply a floodcoat of Polycell 3-in-1 Mould Killer. Let it dry. Repeat with the Polycell stuff every 6 months.

By the way, Milton is basically very dilute bleach - it's a very expensive way of buying bleach.
