Cleaning vinyl seats???

Further to some messages posted further down, does anyone have any "top tips" for cleaning cockpit seating? (apart from getting the missus to do it!). Mine are nearly 2 years old and in pretty good shape apart fom a coupl of little, persistant rust marks - is it possible to get rid of these?

Are household products as good or better than the rip-off chandlery stuff? - I think someone once suggested using Jif (or Cif as I believe it is now known).

The best thing that I have found to use is the car product "Auto Glym". They do a Vinyl and Rubber Care squirty bottle (about a fiver in Halfords) and it works a treat.
FYI they also say that it protects your hoses in the engine from perrishing etc, so I use it there too!

Re: bilge cleaner

if you're careful, bilge cleaner lifts quite a lot of grungy marks incl rust marks as their some mild acid in there. Careful with cif/jif as it abrades.

Mart

Try using lighter fluid. The type that comes in the yellow tins. The guy that did my re-upholstering recommended that and I find its great. Just don't smoke whilst you're doing it.

Hope this helps

Starbright Vinyl Shampoo, followed by Starbright Vinyl Protectant works well.
