Cleaning tyre marks from GRP

This has no doubt been answered before but my searches have drawn a blank. Can anyone recommend a technique for removing black tyre marks from my yacht's hull?

A fine grp rubbing or restoring compound. Failing that Cif cream (without bleach) or similar from the kitchen cupboard.
Polish after.

Hi Mike,
A wipe with Acetone will rid the marks easily, no problems to the gel coat provided it hasn't been painted over.

Surely if your boat is big enough for tyre marks you could ask the servants to clean it? Perhaps make their life easier in future by cycling on the shore

Did you use the forum's search engine? It's rubbish.
Using Google and specifying domain ybw.com produces lots of hits, including this one: http://www.ybw.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-117579.html

Tyres and their marks being fairly generic, non-boaty things, simply Googling the phrase "tyre mark remover" scores 13,000 hits. There must be something magical in that lot.

Now, anyone know of a product which makes the forum's search engine work? Or disappear. I'm not fussy.

Most scuffs like tyres can be be removed with ordinary polish. I would only use something harsher if it failed.
