What is the best thing for cleaning aluminium fittings? I know that there was an article about this recently in pbo, but now that i need it, i can't find it!

It has been suggested in the past that products used to clean automotive alloy wheels work well. One I tried had no effect on my mast but that has blackened over many years.

Winder wheels works well but it still general use. There is some stuff that I can't remember the name of that literally reacts with the aluminium and you leave it on for about 3 mins and then scrub and wash. It literally takes off a layer. Try wonder wheels from Halfords first maybe and try not to let it get into spaces that you can wash out after application.
