Classic Boat Insurance

Please can anyone suggest a suitable insurance company that will insure classic yachts.
One yacht I sail is a 1902 22.5 ft Linton Hope One Design kept on a swinging mooring in the sea for the months of May to September. The is a small class of twelve boats and it is becoming increasingly difficult to insure them at a reasonable cost, if at all.
As far as I am aware there have not been any insurance claims made by any owners during the last ten years, so the risk is not great.
I would welcome any suggestions or advice. Many thanks.

I use Simon Winter Marine.

His dad used to own the pilot cutter Mascotte (built 1904), and still owns the pilot cutter Cornubia (called Hirta for a while, built 1911). His brother owns the smack Maria (built 1866?).

Hi. You could try Yachtmaster Insurance Services in Woodbridge, Suffolk. Sorry, I don't have their number to hand, but a google will bring up their website. They're very helpful - fortunately I've not had to make a claim.

I'd second that. Simon is a super guy - and in this world of call-centre anonymity - its a real treat to have a personal commercial relationship. I arranged insurance for my 1982 Vancouver 27 through him - turned out that for insurance purposes she is a 'classic' due to her age, and the premium is circa £200 pa comprehensive UK and Irish waters. When she sustained stern-tube damage 18mths ago due to a rope and shackle around the prop, the claim process was completely without fuss.

Not necessarily. I changed my insurer to Simon Winter last year and he was completely happy with my 2007 pre-purchase survey and a report from a shipwright who had done some work on the boat.

I insure an 18 ft., 1936 build, Linton Hope design boat with Noblemarine of Newark, Notts..I got onto them via the owner of a similar craft who has used them for some years.
