Chris Evans / "The Snapper"

It's surprising he is selling it after just one season
For a man who likes fast cars, 23kts max must feel a bit pedestrian or maybe even his pockets don't extend to running a boat like this!

Let me try again! From listening to CE on the radio in the morning he occasionally makes reference to the modest boat he has on the south coast. So I'm surprised he bought something as large as 37m.

The boat on the south coast was the Nimbus 37 he kept at Lymington a few years ago wasn`t it.
And stayed at the very modest Chewton Glen Hotel.

And it was very modest.

We looked at a Nimbus 37 that was for sale in Lymington about a year ago and were told that it was Chris Evans old boat.

It was in fairly original condition, with very few extras and starting to show its age.

Apparently he used to go out fishing with his mates on days out from Lymington.

Well, that was the salesman's story anyway.

I think it has now sold. Took a year or two to sell though, so celebrity ownership didn't seem to help that sale.

He used to moor the Nimbus behind my berth in Lymington and I must admit to being surprised how often his family stayed on board given he has/had an apartment at the Chewton (so I'm told). I, like many others I expect, didn't think much of him but my opinion changed somewhat after chatting to him came across a just a friendly guy wanting to learn more about a new hobby. When he changed to the Sunseeker I understand from reliable sources that he 'had bitten off more than he could handle' as far as maneuvering the boat and so it only went out with a skipper an was back on the market not long after.

chris had a few bad experiences in the solent..... I remember when he sailed with his mate to Yarmouth for a few drinks..... on the way back his mate got hit by the boom and drowned....

top bloke is chris.... praps the snapper is for sale to fund the new T5 California :)

The Snapper is also an incredibly busy charter boat. I was chatting to the Captain in Saint Tropez the other day whilst standing by the fairground ride. His job ? To look after the clients kids whilst the parents went shopping !

The problem with Sunseeker / Celeb stories is that half of them are are made up (IPC excepted)!
For example ---Name names please

These owners of the big stuff operate at a different level than ordinary Joe .
It's not unusual for owners of large boats to operate them as a buisness -ie charter -often the boat is Reg in an offshore entity - for tax mitigation reasons ,as one of several buisness enterprises held by a larger holding Co .Of which any loss making deficit can be offset agianst a profit of anorher Co in the group .Set up properly the depreciation too of the asset can be offest .
.Snapper is Reg in Douglas IOM.Its always been heavily chartered from new .So CE has basically taken over the Co from EJ ,which happens to have Snapper as an asset ? They too will have had to pay the chater Co when on it -so the paper trail stacks up to scrutiny
Some one asked in post how much he paid for it ? Well I suspect any depreciation if it's all been set up properly will be offset .Kinda end up near free boating .

Well I had a nose at Blush today and jolly fine she is too .. Helped she was moored outside MYC ..
must have just missed you Richard. We berthed at MYC, near blush, for Saturday night. Pretty unnoticeable as we were maybe the smallest boat in MYC. Had birthday party on board so had a bar trawl till 5 am. Weather was fantastic wasn't it. We had glossy flat sea back to Antibes today

Tee hee. Nice bit of wishful thinking but sadly not at all true. If a business makes a profit maybe you'd put it offshore to shelter the tax. But if it makes a loss what possible benefit is there of putting it in a tax haven ????!! The country of registration generally is generally not where any charter business is carried on and has almost nothing to do with tax planning. Everything you write is urban myth
