Can anybody on the ECF give advice on successful launching of Chinese Lanterns? :rolleyes:and do they foul your prop entering the lock at Shotley?:D

We managed to get one up from the Father-in-Law's in Bristol on New Years Eve.
It took quite a while to inflate from the wick.
It cleared the houses to other side of the road but then the top folded over and then seemed to start burning.
It landed in the field behind the houses with no ill effect to property.

There where a lot of these drifting over some a a great height.
One was found on the roof of the FiL's workshop the following morning.

i was moored up @ Wrabness early last year wondered what the hell they were

Fly tippers are bad enough, why do people have to turn their rubbish into an incendary device before dumping their litter on the rest of the world?
As you can guess I don't like them.
 
CG get a bit p**d off too when folk report them as distress flares and the poor old local volunteer CG team get turned out to go and have a look.
