Hi All,

Just to share with you my story so all of you buying those are aware.

Put recently set of 2 new Chinese elbow on kad32.
All seems good but noticed water started to gather in the bilge.

After investigation noticed it is dripping from under connection to turbo - which should be dry spot.

Removed it today and checked.
Seems internal pipe was mounted bit off centre and don’t provide the watertight seal!

Luckily all water dripped into the bilge and turbo is dry.

I would suggest quick test of just filling it with water and check before mounting.

Mine is dripping straight away as per attached.

what type of sealant are you using between elbow and turbo? On mine, there is no sealant between the flange of the stainless steel internal lining tube and the outer casting so not watertight there .

There is no sealant on kad32 just clamp.

Which you are right is not watertight - as that joint should be dry and just stop exhaust gases.

The issue is on the elbow itself and it leaks water to that joint, which the leaks down into bilge.

In the elbow, water is injected and should drain down.
In my case some of that water is leaking out via connection of two elbow parts - toward turbo.

Normally that would happen on old elbows where internal pipe corroded. Here those are poorly connected together.

Thanks!
