chinaspascher where to fit.

I would respectfully suggest that those not in agreement with what I posted read Eberspachers installation instructions. You will not have exhaust exiting a drain if a looped waterlock is employed. This does not need to be complicated, a simple bent circle of 1/8 copper pipe will do it so long as its below the height of the exhaust port. As I said before it is not necessary if the heater is run on high all the time but it is recommended practice. The fact that most heaters are not installed in accordance with recommendations is unfortunately true......

thanks for the tip. I saw that " little piglets tail" of a drain on some installation guide.

I will probably go with that tip, on the basis that it will do no harm, if I am getting anything out of it it will more than proves its value, if nothing comes out then no harm done I can put a little water in it just to provide gas seal upon installation.

How hot will the exhaust really be at the exit, surely not too much heat will be dumped... How clean is that exhaust... I cannot see where the location of the original exhaust from the webasto which was fitted originally but I'd like to fit the exhaust outlet above deck.

Agree you need to keep exhaust run short. These things really don't like back pressure. Many of the heaters of any variety that soot up can be put down to restricted exhaust. You will also get a silencer in the kit. Throw it out. Many of them leak and you don't need it. Exhaust straight to an eber skin fitting. Also remember to fit it FORE AND AFT. They will tolerate running at an angle that way. they especially don't like running in a rolling sea fitted thwartship. Don't know your boat but if you have a rear locker and can have a transom exhaust go for it. Also you need to decide if you are going to draw air from inside your boat and recirculate (gets warmer more quickly) or take fresh air from outside. I favour the former but make sure the compartment you fit it in has either a grill to allow air in or trunking to an inlet. If there is a restriction of airflow in it won't like that either and any inlet trunking should be kept short too. Hope this helps!

You don't need to have a silencer but if you want to keep your neighbours happy then fit one. I installed without initially and soon fitted a UK made one from these chaps.

Good quality and what a difference it made!

Surely you can see where a hole was for the exhaust? If you can't, I'd avoid fitting it above deck, there may in some circumstances be dribbles of smoky condensate from the skin fitting. On my HR352, the exhaust was in the blue stripe on the starboard side.

Can't really advise you on the location, but I do can give you one little tip: you don't have to worry about running the combustion air pipe outside. These heaters are happy to suck it from the inside without any problems. Ebers were very sensitive on any pressure difference between suction and exhaust and mutual position of these port were often critical. Chingspacher doesn't give a damn. I do suspect this is at the cost of combustion quality and efficiency, but don't have any numbers to confirm it.
I believe it would actually work more efficiently using combustion air that is warm. Doesn't your car start more easily and give better fuel consumption in the warmer months of the year?
You would need to have some ventilation, rather than having every hatch sealed up tight.

Cars run better with cold air... thus intercoolers, ice coolers etc.

But I agree no need to take combustion air from outside..

Found the original outlet hole today, never noticed it in the past, I took it for an air vent, it is not the original exhaust fitting that points aft . Was not able to get on boat and dive into the locker but saw two other hr352s in the yard with the original fitting in the same position.

Interesting, looked at prices very good.Slight different ask..will I be able to do straight swap for my Eber?Ie ducting , exhaust, fuel wiring?

The ducting and exhaust pipe will probably fit - though they do tend to become a bit brittle after years of operation, so you may find that they begin to break up and need replacing. I doubt that the wiring harness would be interchangeable - the Russian and Chinese knockoffs tend to have pretty basic controllers.
