Hello,

Was wondering if anyone else is planning to be out this weekend???

Have been keeping an eye on the weather and wondering if its gonna be OK for a blast and overnight stay or two at Cowes!!!!!

I have a Fairline Sprint and always wonder what conditions are good to go?

Any advice, much appreciated.

From Chichester check wind guru for West Wittering. It shows wave height and once you work out what height you're comfortable in it's pretty accurate I always found. Anything over 2m just stay in the pub :)

You have got the best sub 30 ft boat ever built in my opinion. I had a Sprint for 8 years, starting of with the 205 petrol and ending up with a 370 sti Yamaha diesell. You will have no problem in her. The hull is great and sea keeping better than any American Sports bioat of a similar size. Just go for it - but if there is a strong southerly on the ebb then give it some welly going out! Just to hold her taught to avoid too much slamming. She will look after you.

You can always look at http://www.chimet.co.uk for live wind speed, tide height and wave height. It's taken a battering recently so not everything is working.

We're based in Chichester and always out and about around the Solent, more than welcome to join us.

Kevin

Thank everyone.

I have been out in force 5 and she has looked after me with no problem.. Will be heading out around Sunday lunchtime and heading for Cowes.

Thanks Kevin, It would be great to head out to places with other boats and people. What boat do you have in Chichester?

Hi Sean,

Sessa 35 on D pontoon. Pop along, we're there most weekend

I used to deliver sprints from Chichester to Jersey on their own bottoms, refueled in Alderney, great fun.we had a photo in PBO once taken in Alderney

Well,

The weekend was brilliant. Waited for the fog to ease on Friday afternoon and arrived in Cowes about 5. Meal in the Lifeboat in the evening, the other half was passed out drunk just after 10 lol.....

Spent the day in Cowes and got to Gosport for half 5 on Saturday evening. Met some friends in Gun Wharf for a meal and more drinks, before heading back to Chichester lunchtime on Sunday. Glad I went for it as it was my first time on the boat for a proper weekend.

Cheers all

David few owners of Fairey boats who look in here will certainly not agree with this statement.

I remember seeing David throw that little Sprint around off a choppy Cowes a few years back and it was certainly very spritely.

In this case though, I think he was just trying to give some positive encouragement.

I would imagine the Fairey owners could live with that. :)

Well done, that Chi entrance is actually great fun coming back in once get used to it. Some days tho, going out you'll have some doubts but it will be obvious and an easy decision to make. :encouragement:

Since when have Fairey been "American Sports boats"?

Oh, and complete with forum burgee to! This is one of the pictures taken by Jake Cavanagh for an article on the re-engining of my Sprint in MBM a few years ago.
