I'll be checking my boat at Chichester marina on Saturday so if anyone would like me to give their boat the once over after the winds we've been having lately, just let me know. I live very close to Northney marina so can also call in there to check boats if anyone would like me to.

A very kind offer!! My brothers boat is in Chichester Marina, Berth Q23, it is a Westerly Merlin, boat name Welia. If you could have a look a see if it is still afloat that would be excellent!!

Welia is fine. No chafing of lines evident and fenders all in place. Sail cover and sprayhood all secure. A nice, tidy boat.

As James says, this was greatly appreciated. I managed to get down after the first storm and all seemed well, but my sprayhood is well past its best and I am greatly relieved to hear it survived this latest blow as well!

With so many boats at Chichester seemingly moored up with ageing warps and slack springs, I was expecting armaggedon when I went down, but surprisingly they all seemed to survive. Perhaps I worry too much!

Anyway, your visit was very reassuring and was much appreciated.
