I feel safe its the little kids in the little boats that are a worry,
the little girl in the one that collided had the look of fear all over it,perhaps part of her training??
Can't really add much to the debate, but that's never stopped me so far! RobP is based there and has no problems. I had a boat there for a few years, also no problems. Sure it gets close at times.
Not over-reacting to an everyday incident of crowding?
Personally, I enjoy coming into Chi harbour when there's a race on. Hones up your anticipation and close-quarters skills, gives my dearest something to photograph and I get to exchange smiles and banter with the passing crews.
Wouldn't really want it to change, but no longer based Chi Marina so perhaps shouldn't comment.
I came out of the marina lock at about 1215 and had to pick my way through but it was no big deal. With that many dinghy's about there will always be the risk of a collision in the compromise between racing, avoiding other dinghy's and some unpredictable boat handling from all involved.
What seemed to make it more difficult was that the course looked a bit short, wind direction possibley made it difficult for the OOD, so the gaps between the racers were minimal.
No different to any other place where there is a high concentration of boats for a short time.
Where the marina manager comes into this discussion I don't quite understand, does he have some sort of control over the proceedings?
