I'm shortly going to be berthing my Fleming at the marina - and will need to sort out maintenance/ care - particularly for periods when I'm out of the country. Can anyone please point me in the right direction to the better companies there - who are the good guys?

This summer, I had new rigging supplied and fitted by Chris Holman and his team. They were helpful beyond the call of duty, competitively priced, great at keeping me informed on progress, and did the last minute rush job very quickly and competently.

Some new stainless mast fittings were ably supplied by C and B Marine.

Two excellent outfits to deal with (albeit, based on my one experience).

another vote for Holman Rigging, plus I have used Navigators for a number of jobs. Always efficient, clean and tidy and reasonably priced

Interested to hear replies, yes Holman certainly helpful for rigging and C&B good too but there are plenty of small guys around, one sees them every day year after year and I assume they may offer a 'good value' service, would be good to hear from those who have used them...I'm looking for someone to do some antifouling on a small boat.

A vote for Harbour Engineering for inboards, Beta etc.

John Bone - used his services last year

As others have said Chris Holman for rigging. I've had good service this year from Golden Arrow for repairs to my engine. One or two minor issues but resolved quickly and efficiently, I'll certainly continue to use them.

Agree on Holman Rigging, and C&B excellent if you want something made in metal - they once made us a new pulpit, and can also repair stanchions etc. Roger Upham is the best marine electrician on the south coast and can fix things that have defeated other firms. For general repairs including GRP and plumbing, we use Madge Marine - although they have closed the office at Chichester they still work there and count as an in-house contractor (as they're based at another Premier location, Port Solent).

For general tasks Navigators are a useful company to know. When I was in Chichester I used them for tasks such as anti-fouling, cleaning the teak and other such tasks. Very nice and reliable and reasonable prices.

The little work I had done by Chris Holman was also fine.
